Top Line:
Reporting to the Vice President for Brand and Social, the Deputy Director of Social and Brand will help build and maintain a robust social media presence for @CourierNewsroom’s social accounts across all platforms — including video-based platforms (Instagram and TikTok) and text-based platforms (Facebook, Twitter/X, Threads, LinkedIn, and Bluesky).
Role & responsibilities include:
Create engaging and informative daily social news content
Support content creation (graphics & video), including brainstorming ideas and helping manage projects from concept to completion
Closely monitor current events to create relevant social content that aligns with COURIER’s editorial priorities
Manage COURIER’s online communities across platforms and identify opportunities to build deeper relationships with our audience of 5.4M+
Create and maintain a regular social calendar, including promoting COURIER’s national products (newsletters, web shows, podcasts, etc.)
Track and report on the national team’s social KPIs
Send bi-weekly round-ups of national content to COURIER’s marketing list
Serve as a mentor to junior social staff
Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will have some of the following:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in social content curation and creation
A political expert in their own right, with a strong understanding of the national and gubernatorial political landscape and the ability to quickly and accurately break down the news
Strong background in political content creation
Graphic design experience (required for this role)
Strong knowledge of best practices in social video publishing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for design
Video editing skills are not required but preferred
Compensation and benefits
The annual salary for this role will be between $85,000 - $95,000, depending on background and experience Unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO), 11 paid holidays a year Full suite of health benefits Flexible working arrangements $500 home office reimbursement
